Sharing a collar
The X40 series allows a collar to be shared wirelessly with another handheld device. A second user can then track the same collar and, depending on the selected sharing method, use its training functions.
If the second user only needs to track the dog's location, use the Hunt function instead. This simple location-sharing method is described in the Hunt chapter.
Collar owner
Menu → Device list → Select the desired collar → Sharing
You can start new sharing or end existing sharing. Two options are available:
- Tracking code – the other user can track the dog's location.
- Tracking and control code – the other user can also use training functions.
The displayed sharing code must be given to the user who wants to add the collar.
Adding a shared collar
The receiving user opens Menu → Device list, selects a position, and chooses Receive code wirelessly instead of normal RF pairing. They enter the sharing code and press Save.
After the code has been entered, the owner selects Next on their handheld device. The required data is transferred wirelessly and the collar is added to the other user's device list.
During sharing, the collar must be on and have a valid GPS position, indicated by the normal single flash of the status LED. If the LED flashes three times, there is no valid GPS position yet and sharing may not be completed.
If the other user only needs to track the dog, use a Tracking code. Share access to training functions only when it is genuinely needed.
