CloudRange – community extension of the X40 system range
CloudRange is an optional X40 handheld device function that can help determine the location of a collar beyond the direct range of its owner's handheld device. It is enabled by default.
You can disable or enable it on the X40 handheld device:
- Menu → Settings → System → CloudRange function
When the X40 handheld device is connected to the mobile app and the app has internet access, it can receive the signal of a nearby collar that is not paired with it. Information about that collar is sent to the server and then forwarded to its owner.
Devices with CloudRange enabled form a community network that can extend practical coverage, for example in a forest or another large area.
CloudRange does not guarantee continuous tracking or that an animal will be found. Information reaches the owner only if the collar comes within range of another device with CloudRange enabled that is connected to the mobile app and the internet.
After CloudRange is disabled, the X40 handheld device stops sending information received from other users' collars. This may reduce mobile data use and the energy consumed by internet transmission.
Communication between the X40 handheld device and its own paired collars remains unchanged.
